Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we are sorry to announce that ArbTreat will be postponed indefinitely. Most likely we are looking to organise the event in 2021.
ArbTreat 2020 is an retreat/workshop for arborists and alike that are interested in learning new stuff in a relaxing and serene environment. ArbTreat is an opportunity to meet up with like minded people from around the world, improve your climbing skills in magnificent trees, learn about fungi and how they can be used in practical ways in arborism and have a fun and relaxing weekend away from it all.
ArbTreat 2020 will be organized in the beautiful Finnish archipelago near Hanko, on an island called Kadermo. The island hosts magnificent old oak trees for us to climb in and appreciate. You can arrive by car to the pier or train/bus to Hanko and take a taxi to the pier. From the pier there will be a boat transport to the island.
On the island you will be staying in rooms for two. So come with a friend or make new friends by sharing a room together!
ArbTreat 2020 will be on the first weekend of June, Friday the 5th of June to Sunday the 7th of June 2020.
ArbTreat 2020 is meant for arborists and people working with climbing in trees. You can be a seasoned veteran in tree work or a beginner and still enjoy ArbTreat. The event will be international so lectures will be held in English. Enquiries can be made in Finnish, Swedish or English.
Our main speaker will be none other than Mr. Dan Holliday from Climbing arborist.com www.climbingarborist.com!
Dan will talk about the importance of being efficient in tree work, looking ahead to plan your day, plan your climb and creating systems to make your job run smoothly and as enjoyable as it can be.
Dan will show various tips and tricks that he uses on a regular basis to increase efficiency, save energy, and make jobs more enjoyable.
We love the job we do, we want to enable our bodies to do this for as long as we have the love for tree work.
On Sunday Mr. Javier Mansilla from Suomen Agrometsä will be lecturing about how to practically use fungi in arborist work. www.agrometsa.fi and www.kaapahealth.fi
Javi will speak about the idea of having dead wood in the parks and using it to make the place more beautiful using fungi. Leaving tall stumps and inoculating them with beautiful mushrooms that can be edible, or dye the wood in beautiful colors. Making piles of branches and inoculating them. Making beds of wood chips and cultivating mushrooms there. Adding decay wood in parks and green areas is important for biodiversity, but biodiversity can also be beautiful and useful!
Mr. Douglas Wells from Wells Trädvård will be presenting his application ArbRisk to us on Friday. www.wellstradvard.se and www.facebook.com/WorkSmartWorkSafe/
He will practically show how he would use the app in our event situation. The importance of work safety can not be ignored in our line of work. With ArbRisk it Douglas wants to show how easy good safety standards are to maintain!
Eg-Trading Oy and Mr. Jussi Nyman will be at the event with an assortment of arborist equipment with him. www.eg-trading.fi
Eg-Trading works together with the German company Freeworker. Via Eg-Trading and Jussi you can also get Silky, Ars and many other quality tools for arborists and landscapers.
